A taste to enjoy inside or outside the county

cider in a glass

For 350 years cider production in Herefordshire has been on a rollercoaster, periodically rising to become an industry of great importance and always remaining an important factor in the rural way of life. Although production has inevitably developed along modern lines, there is a growing number of small farm producers, making elegant ciders and perries from single apple varieties and scooping awards in the national field. Not surprisingly, cider features regularly in Herefordshire cuisine and in local events, particularly in the autumn.

Enjoy the cider landscape - orchards are special places in all seasons - blossom in spring, shade in the summer, apples in the autumn and mistletoe in winter. Many rights of way pass through orchards or pick up a cider cycling route leaflet from the county Tourist Information Centres and don't forget the Cider Route leaflet, linking producers around the county and the Cider Museum in Hereford.
